The Rotary Club of Wiarton provides many opportunities for youth in our community and around the world. These include....
This active group, at Peninsula Shores District School, includes students between the ages of 12 and 18. Together they organize and participate in fundraising events ranging from selling maple syrup to collecting electronic waste. To date, their efforts have resulted in support for the Music Program at PSDS, a donation to Habitat for Humanity, a donation to the Animal Shelter and a contribution towards furniture for a school in rural Peru. In addition, they have recently donated sufficient funds to install water and latrines into a school in Cameroon. All PSDS students between grades 7 and 12 are invited to join. Please attend one of our meetings. We meet the first and third Tuesday of every month. Listen to the morning announcements for location.
Rotary Youth Exchange.
Currently The Rotary Club of Wiarton is sponsoring two local exchange students. Shay Adams is living in Korea and Cassandra Cruikshank is living in France for the next year. Both are outbound exchange students having 'the year of their lives'.
Tomoki Maeda, from Japan, is living in Wiarton for her exciting exchange year. He will be joining the school soccer team and is an accomplished pianist.
These year long exchanges provide students between the ages of 16 and 18 an opportunity to experience life in another culture and learn another language. For more information see the Rotary Youth Exchange page, under Youth, on this site.
We select our outbound student before the middle of September each year. For more information contact email@example.com.
New Generations Exchange.
This exchange, for students between 21 and 30 years of age, allows young adults to live in another country for a 3 week to 3 month period of time. While there, they may gain work experience, learn about a new culture, make new friends and improve language skills. These exchanges take place throughout the year. For more information contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
